Southern Sewerage system outfall

Client: Nawasa

2018

Techniques: Pipe laying, rock laying and revetments works

The main sewer line of Grenada’s south coast emerges at the end of the runway of Maurice Bishop Airport’s runway. After a particularity large swell event the pipeline broke at the interface of the land and sea, approx. 40m offshore. NAWASA, Grenada’s statutory water and sewage company contracted Intrepid to repair/replace the broken line, build a protective revementment on top of the new sewerline and reconnect the new line to the existing sewer line. A combination of shore and marine equipment including divers was used for this quite challenging job including tropical storms and very strong currents, > 4 knots, making the work windows very tight.
